So, Christy Mae’s is one of the best kept secrets in Albuquerque. It has been around since 1982 and I have lived in Albuquerque since 1990. This was my first visit and I am a bit annoyed that I have lived here all this time and never before visited this little gem. I would describe it as comfort food and honestly, I can’t wait to go back.

The food was delicious. Started with a Half & Half appetizer – An assortment of fried zucchini & cheese served with ranch dressing. Best fried zucchini and cheese I have had it a long time. It was cooked perfect and not greasy at all.

I ordered a Le Ham & Cheese which is thinly sliced ham topped with tomatoes and melted Swiss cheese on a croissant. The ham was sliced perfect and the cheese actually tasted like Swiss cheese. The tomato was sliced super thin which is exactly how I liked it. I would order it again. I chose banana bread as my side as I cannot eat potatoes. It, too, was delicious.

Also ordered was Nellie Bea’s Chicken Pot Pie – Served with honey cornbread and honey butter.  Creamy and delicious  … it was so good.  The ultimate comfort food.

For dessert we tried Carrot Cake – which was deliciously spicy and a Big John’s Peanut Butter Pie – OMG it was like a peanut butter mousse pie. Silky, smooth and amazingly delicious.

My only complaint (and it’s a small one) is that when I tried to sign up for an online account so that I could order online – it didn’t work. However, they do have curbside pick up – and while I did have to go in and order … I was only in there for a few minutes and then the staff brought my order out to me in the car.

Christy Mae’s is located at 1400 San Pedro NE.
