I like rainy day. I love the smell of the rain especially here in the desert. It smells good everywhere but it’s a bit different here. That said, I was so glad I didn’t have to get out of the truck one this particular day as it was cold and windy.
Needless to say, I did not take this photo today or this week but it was one of the best I had for this months theme day. This was taken up in the Sandia Mountains on an incredibly COLD and beautifully snowy day.
The first snowy Sandia Mountiains of the year. So pretty!! It even snowed a bit down in the valley but what stuck only lasted a few hours.
When it’s cold here in Albuquerque you can see these steam plumes for miles. They seem to decorate the horizon at times.
I went out to run a few errands today and the clouds blanketing the mountains were beautiful. Stormy and beautiful. By the time I got home the mountains were completely enveloped in the clouds. You couldn’t see the mountains at all.
The snowy mountains and roadways taken by my friend Susan Hilty.
Thank you, Susan for permission to share your photo.
It’s a cold … really cold … snowy, windy night here in Albuquerque.

When I let the house it was dry and chilly. When I got home there was some accumulation on the ground and it was already turning slushy and slippery.
First snow of the season today. Was a bit surprised to have to clean off the car when I went to leave the house. Driving was ok this afternoon.
The nice thing about snow in Albuquerque is that it is usually gone in a day.
We got 10 inches of snow which is the most it has snowed here since 2006. That was on Saturday. By yesterday it was all melted.
