I thought I would join Marie and post a photo of my african grey parrot, Tashi. Tashi is 10 years old and I have owned her since she was an egg. She hatched February 29, 1996. She is considered an adolescent now and is acting out the same way my kids did when they were in their teens!
Tash is quite the talker and one must be very careful what one says in her presence or she will repeat whatever it was at the most inappropriate moment! She also rings like a phone and answers herself, laughs, sneezes, coughs, burps and yes… farts! And I disagree with anyone who tries to tell me that birds only mimic and do not think.
See a few more shots at Albuquerque Extra!

2006-09-25 06:24I have always been fascinated by parrots but i am also a little afraid of them.
Of their bighting.
She looks clever and cute though!

2006-09-25 12:24She’s darling! I used to have a yellow-naped Amazon (until I got married & husband — now ex-husband — couldn’t tolerate the noise..funny, he tolerated it before we got married…)
They are so much fun! And so smart!

2006-09-25 14:17I remember one of my teachers explaining the difference between humans and other animals is that humans thought.
And I remember thinking to myself, “She doesn’t know what she’s talking about here.”
That’s a lovely African Grey.

2006-09-25 23:54Hi Helen! What a great shot! When I was a child I wanted a parrot but never got one. My parents got me a couple of parakeets instead.
