Mount Taylor, a dormant stratovolcano nestled in northwest New Mexico, lies northeast of the town of Grants. It stands as the highest point in the Cibola National Forest and the San Mateo Mountains, In 1849, it was renamed after the then-president, Zachary Taylor.
