What seems like a thousand years ago, my grandfather in Riverside CA lived in a 2-storey adobe house which he had acquired long after it was built. However, grandpa always had a few adobe bricks curing for such things as outdoor walls & one time he did build a livable structure with the bricks, tho I don’t recall any use of straw bales. Are they a real requisite for a proper adobe building? Or just in climates that get winter, unlike SoCal?
