It’s only January. We had a few really warm beautiful days and now there’s buds on the Mulberry tree. I have never seen this tree bud like this before March. This tree tries to kill me every year so I am not looking forward to an early allergy season.
Looking forward to spring and this photo is a throw back to last spring. January always seems so much longer than 31 days. This is an entrance to a mountain hiking trail in the Cibola National Forest. When it’s really dry and there is a fire danger many if not all of these trail get closed.
That plant with the white bloom of flowers on top is a Yucca which New Mexico adopted as it’s state flower in 1927.
These were growing in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains. I don’t actually know what they are but they looked like baseball sized watermelons to me.
I love to head up to the mountains for some R&R. This entrance to Cibola National Forest is at the base of the Sandia Peak Tramway. There are hiking trails that are accessible from here when there is no fire danger.
