He was a very busy bee in a very busy bush. I went to my daughter’s house today and this bush was bustling with bees, wasps, and hornets. There had to be a hundred on them feasting.
I am not at all a fan of flying, stinging creatures so I shot this from F – A – R away at 300mm.
It was windy and rainy (yes, my camera got wet) and this ladybug held on through it all. Every now and again she would take a stroll up one stalk of grass and down another but she would always wind up in the same spot.
Howdy Folks!! I’m sorry for the unannounced extended hiatus of Albuquerque Daily Photo. It’s a very long story that would just bore you to tears (and I wouldn’t want to do that) but I am back and looking forward to posting. It rained here for most of last night and it was awesome. It was cool and comfortable for sleeping … finally!!
Anyway, about the photo … this was the prettiest insect I have ever seen … if an insect can be pretty. It’s wings were amazing … the way they shimmered in the sun was awesome. And the bronze coppery color was gorgeous.
The moths are back in large quantities. This one got tired of dive bombing my face and decided to rest on my wallet before carrying on it’s mission to annoy.
Taken with my cell phone.
This praying mantis was doing a heck of a good job hiding in this plant. I didn’t even see him till he moved
I’m sorry for the extended absence …. sometimes life just gets in the way.
Given all the rain we have had here the vegetation is trying very hard to overtake the backyard. Yesterday I had some time and was cutting back a bush that had over night become a tree and this grasshopper was living it. He seemed a bit annoyed that I cut down his new condo but he quickly moved on to the condo next door.
He was kind enough to pose for a few photos before moving on!
Does any one know what kind of butterfly this is? There were quite a few of them up in the mountains. I thought they were very pretty!
