This Red Tailed Hawk was just gorgeous and it’s wing span must have been between 3 – 4 feet.
I love to watch birds. This quail spent the better part of an hours foraging in this little patch of dirt. He seem oblivious to everything around him.
This mourning dove was watching me watch her. She spent quite a bit of time sitting on that fence. It was pretty hot yesterday, the fence is black and gets hot enough to burn skin. I wonder how thier little feet stand the hot!!
A tandem take-off. And it was loud!
These geese were coming in for a landing at the Rio Grande Nature Center. . They sure looked like they were taking aim.
I thought this duck was very kind to put on a show for me at the Rio Grande Nature Center.
I went to the Rio Grande Nature Center today. How I have lived her for 22 years and have not known about this place is beyond me. I spent most of my time at The Candelaria Wetland at the Candelaria Farm Preserve Open Space. There were lots of water fowl and even some turtles. I can’t wait to go back!
I wonder when the birds come back after the winter if they build new nests or move back into the ones they vacated when they flew south.
Have you ever seen a whole flock of birds is going in for a landing on a wire at the same time? It’s quite a sight!
