I took this photo at 2nd Street and Menaul Blvd. NW. That is downtown Albuquerque you see on the horizon. I was where the green arrow is on the map and you can see the train tracks running right along 2nd Street all the way to downtown. Downtown on the map is where it says Albuquerque.

Elk in the Mountains

We are always thrilled when we come across wild animals in there natural habitat. This was one of 4 elk we came upon up in the Jemez Mountains and he was as curious about us as we were about him or her.
Unsuspecting Elk

This magnificent creature was grazing so happily along that he or she did not even notice me sneaking up to take a photo. I was up in the Jemez Mounains when I came across this elk. When I first spotted it I thought it was a bear and almost made a hasty retreat. I’m glad I stuck around.
Jemez Mountain Relief Station

Located along NM 4 thru the Jemez Moutains are several small camping/picnic/hiking areas. The relief station for a camp ground/picnic area are remarkablyclean and comfortable.
