Ox Cart

I spotted this ox cart sitting on Rt. 66 and thought it was pretty. It decorates the outside of a Thai restaurant!
To see a close up of the painting on the front see Albuquerque Extra.

This place is a 1960′s vintage steakhouse with good food. I personally have never eaten here but I have been told by many that I should. It is located on Rt. 66 and not at all hard to find… there’s a cow on the roof.

Where the buffalo roam;
and the deer and the cantalope play.
That’s what my son used to sing when he was about 4!

I have been trying to find a place to photograph these two building so that both were visible! The taller one is the Bank of Albuquerque and the shorter is the Hyatt Regency Hotel!
Tashi

I thought I would join Marie and post a photo of my african grey parrot, Tashi. Tashi is 10 years old and I have owned her since she was an egg. She hatched February 29, 1996. She is considered an adolescent now and is acting out the same way my kids did when they were in their teens!
Tash is quite the talker and one must be very careful what one says in her presence or she will repeat whatever it was at the most inappropriate moment! She also rings like a phone and answers herself, laughs, sneezes, coughs, burps and yes… farts! And I disagree with anyone who tries to tell me that birds only mimic and do not think.

Sandia Crest House
September 23, 2006 | Filed Under Buildings, Mountains, Places of Interest | 2 Comments

When you get to the top of Sandia Peak there is the Sandia Crest House which houses a snack bar and a gift shop. It sits at an elevation of 10, 678 feet and it is 14 mile drive up to the top. When I was up there on SEPTEMBER 21, much to my surprise it was snowing!
Here is a map of the peak. The yellow building in the middle is the Crest House! To the left is Albuquerque and to the right is the photo I posted yesterday! On the map you can also see a heliport. There have been times when folks go up and get altitude sickness or they have a drink with dinner and the altitude intensifies the effect and they need to be flown down!

I took this photo at Sandia Peak at sunset! I was looking east as the sun was setting behind me!
Paul Bunyan

This Paul Bunyan towers over a Vietnamese Restraurant at 111 Louisiana Blvd. If you look right about the middle of the map you can see his shadow. Mr. Bunyan is huge, made of fiberglass and I cannot seem to find any reliable info as to what he is doing there! This website offers some info but I don’t know how reliable it is!
