Robin

This little robin sat on the gate outside my window for most of the afternoon. I would look out and he would be there just waiting. I wonder what he was waiting for?

Taking a Rest

There is an entire family of hummingbirds living in my backyard. They are the most amazing little birds to watch. I guess this little one needed to tak a minute before resuming the hummingbird business.

The Fat Finch

I am not sure why they named it The Fat Finch … but it was the name that attracted me to the place. I did not have time to stop in but after looking at the website I will be going back.

Who Ruffled His Feathers?

Who Ruffled His Feathers?

This little roadrunner was sitting on a curb in a parking lot. Every time the wind would blow his feathers would ruffle. It must have felt good because as long as the wind was blowing he would sit still … as soon as it stopped he was off and running.

Stop and Smell the Flowers

This cow sculpture sits out in front of The Corrales Bosque Gallery at 4685 Corrales Rd. in Corrales, NM.

UPDATE:  The artists name is Roger Evans.  Thanks, Shari for that info.   You can see some more of his work on the Corrales Bosque Gallery site.  Just click on his name.

I love the peaceful look on her face as she stops to smell the flower. I also love the eyelashes and the bird perched on her antler. To see close ups of her face, the eyelashes and the bird click here to go to Albuquerque Extra.

Taken with my phone camera.

It’s a BOY

It's a Boy

When they were cutting some branches off my tree this afternoon this poor little guy either got knocked out of his nest or fell out of his nest. From the tip of his beak to the tip of his tail he was less than 2 inches long and can’t fly yet. I put him in a box under the tree hoping Mama Bird would come for him but she didn’t appear to be anywhere around.

Anyways, to make a long story short I found a lady who rehabilitates baby hummingbirds and brought him to her. She said he is going to be fine … he will probably be released back into the wild in a few weeks when he learns how to fly.

Razzed by a HUmmingbird

I guess my little hummingbird friend got tired of flitting about and decided to take a breather. He is sitting on the frame of a portable canopy. In this shot you can actually see his tongue sticking out.

Taking a Rest

This is the same hummingbird from yesterdays photo. Every few minutes he would land on the canopy frame and rest.

A Hummingbird to Brighten Your Day

A Hummingbird to Brighhten Your Day

I had a seriously crappy day and when I got home I went into the backyard to chill. Well that lasted about 10 minutes because this hummingbird showed up. I ran for the camera praying he would still be there when I got back … not only was he still there but he flittered about for oven an hour. Just a FYI … Trying to catch a hummingbird with a camera is sort of like trying to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

In this photo I caught him/her coming in for a landing on the white thing you see in the foreground. It is actually a collapsible canopy we use over the pool to block the sun. I love that you can actually see his wings fluttering in this photo.
