Balloon Chase Crew

This is a balloon chase crew … chasing their balloon. Basically their goal is to follow the balloon by road and to be at the landing site before the balloon gets there in case they need assistance.
Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

It’s time for Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta again. This year it is running from October 3rd to October 12th.
This morning I was having breakfast and all of a sudden a huge shadow came over and I heard the whooosh of the balloon burner. It was literally right over my house. So I grabbed my camera and ran outside and there were about 30 or so balloons right over head and more coming. They were landing about 2 block away in a huge field. It was AWESOME.

Last night was the Special Shapes Glowdeo. That where the special shape balloons inflate on the field and light up their burners. When they all light up together it lights up the sky. It’s very kewl!
I actually forgot my tripod (can you believe it) so this shot is hand held!
Gas Balloon

This is one of the gas balloons in the America’s Challenge right after it lifted off. To be honest I am not sure which balloon it is. Once they started taking off they went pretty quick. In this photo I am facing NNW.
The balloons took off at sunset which gave the mountains and sky this gorgeous pinky purple color.

America’s Challenge Gas Balloon Race

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is here this week. Every year during the fiesta there is the America’s Challenge Gas Balloon Race. They actually supposed to take off Saturday, October 6th but didn’t actually get to take off until Monday, October 8th due to wind and weather conditions! This is a shot of the gas balloons filling up and getting ready for take off!
